Andrew Zolinsky

After winning first prize in the San Francisco International Piano Concerto Competition, Andrew has established a reputation as one of the most imaginative and exciting pianists of his generation.

Recent performances have include concerts with the RPO, the London Concert Orchestra, Sinfonia 21 and the New London Orchestra and conductors such s Diego Masson, Martyn Brabbins, Nicholas Cleobury, Ronald Corp and Simon Joly.  Andrew has performed at most of the major venues in this country and has given many broadcasts on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM, German and Czech radio and BBC Radio Ulster.

Andrew is much in demand in the contemporary music world, performing with the Composers’ Ensemble, Capricorn, Eos and as a member of Icebreaker since 1998.  He has worked with many leading composers including Simon Holt, Louis Andriessen, Poul Ruders, Michael Finnissy, Martin Butler and in particular with David Lang.

Other recent highlights include the London premiere, with the BBC Symphony Orchestra of Unsuk Chin’s Piano Concerto, the premiere of a new set of pieces written for Andrew by Michael Zev Gordon and the premiere of a piano concerto written for him by David Lang.  After frequent performances of David Lang’s Memory Pieces, his recording of them, on Cantaloupe Music, was released in November 2011.
