Big Beautiful Dark and Scary was written in 2002 as a response to the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center, which was close to Julia Wolfe’s Manhattan home. The live recording is Icebreaker's first performance of Artistic Director James Poke’s arrangement, from the Sounds New Festival in Canterbury in 2014.
