Previously unreleased, Link is one of three musical pieces which accompanied a dance work called Cheating, Lying, Stealing for the Royal Ballet in London, choreographed by Ashley Page. The ballet included the eponymous work by David Lang, arranged for Icebreaker by the composer in 1996. Also in the dance piece wasYo Shakespeare by Michael Gordon, written for Icebreaker in 1992. Link arose as a musical effort between David Lang and Michael Gordon, created specifically for Page's work with the Royal Ballet, which was subsequently revived for performances with Scottish Ballet in 2003 and 2009.
